The Beauty: Coleen Rooney is a WAG, for sure, but she is the least “waggish” of all the English WAGs. What do I mean by that? Well, I mean she’s never been a model. She’s not an actress either. In fact, she has never appeared on a reality show (gasp). You see, she met a boy when she was 12 and she fell in love. I know what you are thinking. That happens alot. But, the boy she fell in love with was very good at soccer. He fell in love with her too. Few are as lucky as Coleen.…

In my opinion, Lionel Messi is the world’s best player whether he wins the FIFA award or not . This year has been more than exciting for Messi. He helped his club win the Uefa champions league, the Spanish La Liga and the Copa del rey. His 38 goals for Barca also allowed him to be the first Argentine player to be named as the European player of the year.

Mascots are one thing that I’ve never really understood. I know that they are not there for my own personal entertainment (being that I am a male in my mid 20’s), but do children even like these weird characters? Now don’t get me wrong some mascots I respect because they have been around forever like the Philly Fanatic or the Florida State Seminole, but some of these World Cup creations look more like a monster that should have been put down on the island of Dr. Moreau then something little kids…

Not many people knew who Tim McKernan was. But only a fool hasn’t heard of McKernan’s alter-ego the Denver Bronco’s fanatic, the Barrel Man.
Well some sad news happened a weekend ago for sports fans everywhere. McKernan, the first fan ever inducted into the NFL Fans Hall of Fame, passed away at the age of 69.
The Barrel Man will always be remembered by NFL fans for the entertaining antics he brought to Mile High Stadium every Sunday. Only wearing a Bronco’s metal bucket around his waist along…

Liverpool’s woes seem to be getting worse with every game they play. Last night’s Champions league match against Fiorentina only compounded Rafael Benitez’s problems.
Liverpool lost 2-1 at home to a Fiorentina side that has really impressed this season. The Merseyside outfit who were already bundled out of the lucrative tournament, will now play in the Europa league.
Liverpool have not won the Premiership trophy in almost two decades. That to me is a pretty long time! There was some hope that…

Portsmouth
All Portsmouth wants for X-mas is a briefcase full of money and no questions asked. It is just like all the Coen brothers movies (Fargo, No Country for Old Men, the Big Lebowski) where a person desperate for money discovers a bag full of stacked one hundred dollar bills in a place nobody would expect. Portsmouth would salivate at this opportunity being that they can’t deliver paychecks on time to their roster and staff.…

Group B contains Argentina, Nigeria, Greece and South Korea, in what could be a mini group of death. Argentina were poor in qualifying, and Greece and South Korea are always hard to break down. At the moment I see Argentina and Nigeria moving onto the knockout rounds.
A look at the teams in Group B
ARGENTINA
Manager: Diego Maradona
Key player: Lionel Messi
Best: Winners (1978, 1986)
World ranking: 8…

Group A contains host nation South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay and France. South Africa is a very weak #1 seed at at the moment, France and Mexico must be favored to move on.
A look at the teams in Group A
SOUTH AFRICA
Manager: Carlos Alberto Parreira
Key player: Kagisho Dikgacoi
Best: Round one (1998, 2002)
World ranking: 86
Qualifying as hosts has its obvious advantages – giving straight passage without having to kick a ball in anger. However, the lack of a competitive edge is the drawback and…

LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal are two of America’s most beloved basketball stars. They have both seemingly permeated our culture with their huge personalities and enormous athletic talent. Although King James has yet to hoist any significant hardware, Shaq has won several titles. Both have proven themselves to be at the top of their chosen profession though. But, what if instead of b-ball, they had chosen soccer, a game with a different net?…
